The direct answer
Samsung The Frame is designed for prolonged art and photo display, and Samsung describes its panels as less prone to screen burn-out than other TVs. That is not a guarantee that every model is immune to image retention or panel aging. Use Art Mode and your exact model’s care instructions rather than leaving a paused TV picture on indefinitely. See Samsung’s Frame-specific explanation.
Burn-in, temporary retention and model scope
Temporary retention is a residual image that fades; permanent burn-in is persistent discoloration. A visible shadow alone does not establish which problem you have. Samsung’s OLED burn-in explanation distinguishes these terms, but its OLED repair controls should not be assumed to exist on The Frame.
The 2024 LS03D model documented by Samsung is QLED, not OLED. This is the model family covered by our 2024 Frame buying guide. Check your model code, size, year and regional manual before applying advice to another Frame or Frame Pro. Menu names and sensors can differ.
Set Art Mode to suit the room
In Samsung’s documented SmartThings workflow, select the Frame TV, open Art Mode, then Settings. Where available, Sleep After puts the screen into standby after a chosen period without motion; Night Mode responds to ambient light; Motion Detector Sensitivity adjusts motion response. Choose a comfortable brightness and test the settings in your room. Keep the front sensor unobstructed. Consult Samsung’s Art Mode instructions for the supported controls.
Keep ventilation openings clear, follow the installation clearances in your model’s manual, and avoid direct heat. A slideshow can vary the artwork, but it is not a promise against damage. We removed the earlier unsupported claim that every Frame uses a particular screen-shift mechanism.
If an image remains visible
- Leave the static artwork and check whether the shadow remains on ordinary moving content and menus.
- Note your model code and when the symptom occurs. Follow that model’s troubleshooting instructions.
- Turn the television off when it is not needed. If the mark persists, contact Samsung Support and check your warranty.
Do not run an OLED pixel-refresh procedure on a QLED set or use an unverified burn-in-fix video as a substitute for model-specific support.
Common Art Mode questions
Can I leave Art Mode on all day?
It is intended for extended art display. There is no universal safe number of hours or immunity promise here. Use supported standby settings and check your manual for operating conditions.
Does pressing Power turn the screen fully off?
In Samsung’s documented OneRemote workflow, a short press switches between TV and Art Mode. Hold Power to turn the set fully off. Check your remote’s instructions.
Does Art Mode use electricity?
Yes. Showing artwork is different from being off. Power consumption varies by model and settings; consult your model’s specifications.
How do I prepare a photo for Art Mode?
Use our Samsung Frame photo converter to position a 4K crop, then transfer the download through your model’s supported SmartThings or USB workflow.
