Everyday photo sharing

Aura Mason & Carver

Keep family photos close, wherever they come from.

Aura is a practical option for families who want to send pictures remotely. This page keeps Mason and Carver together for existing owners; use Aura’s current lineup guide when buying a new frame.

Key specs and model differences

Carver has a 10.1-inch landscape display at 1280 × 800 pixels, a 16:10 ratio. Carver Mat adds a decorative mat surround. Mason is an older model with a different screen shape: confirm its specifications before cropping or buying used. Mason, Mason Luxe and Carver are distinct products.

Subscription and sharing

Aura says its core storage, photo/video sharing, app and invited contributors do not require a subscription. Our previous references to an “Aura Premium” fee and a 100-photo free limit were incorrect.

Why it stands out

Choose it for shared family photos and gifting. Consider whether landscape-only Carver suits your pictures, or whether you prefer a current model that can stand vertically. A power outlet and compatible Wi-Fi are part of setup.

Pros and tradeoffs

  • Remote contributions suit relatives living apart.
  • No required recurring fee for the core features above.
  • Consider your comfort with a connected cloud photo service.
  • Carver is for tabletop viewing, not wall-sized art.
